Port Alliance Encourages Public Membership
The Port Alliance For Jobs and Community Development is a newly-formed group of citizens who support the increase of jobs at the State Port at Gulfport and the development of the Coast Communities which will result from the full restoration of the Port at Gulfport.

Research Foundation Accepting Masters Program Applications
The Gulf Coast Business Council Research Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 Masters Program. In its third year, the Masters Program is designed to foster enlightened leadership and advance the discussion and resolution of regionally significant issues through a series of seminars based on comprehensive study, critical thought and open discussion.
Participation in the Masters Program is open to persons living or working in one of the three Coast counties of Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson who possess a demonstrated ability to critically examine issues on a regional basis and actively engage in efforts important to the region.
Applicants should have a demonstrated record of leadership in their respective businesses or other organizations. No more than 20 individuals will be selected to participate in the program.
Analysis of South Mississippi April Unemployment Rates
The Research Foundation has published an analysis of April unemployment rates, recently released by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security. This report details the decrease in monthly unemployment rates for all three counties of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and notes for the second consecutive month that the number of establishment jobs are growing and the year-over-year gap for the monthly rates is decreasing. CEO Report Details Increase in CEO Confidence
The Gulf Coast Business Council Research Foundation announced today the release of its quarterly CEO and Business Owners Confidence report. This report summarizes an increase in Gulf Coast CEO and business owner’s confidence levels, highlighting an expected increase in hires combined with the perception of an increased availability of qualified skilled labor. Wind Pool Study Reveals Impact on Economy
A study commissioned by the Gulf Coast Business Council Research Foundation and conducted by the John C. Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University evaluates the economic impact of the proposal for additional funding of $20 million into the wind pool.
An analysis of the study, released by the Gulf Coast Business Council Research Foundation, states that in addition to attracting commercial investments and reducing the burden of insurance costs to Gulf Coast homeowners, this additional $20 million in state funding will more than pay for itself as a result of new tax revenues to the state of Mississippi. The study estimates these new tax revenues to state coffers at $26.9 million.
Gulf Coast Regional Brief Released by Foundation The Gulf Coast Business Council Research Foundation has released its 4 th Quarter Regional Brief. This report contains information and commentary reflective of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and is intended to provide a regional perspective of economic conditions in the latter half of 2008 and those on the horizon in 2009.
